Dan Federman, CEO, Co-founder

Dan has spent more than 25 years in all aspects of business in the software industry and in international operations. His strong suit is bringing new technologies into a company’s core operations to enhance product and service offerings and improve internal operations. Dan has in-depth knowledge of the software industry in Mexico. He has worked in small start-ups, midsized companies and large companies, in operations, finance, strategic and product planning and executive management. Dan has taken two companies public, Premenos Technologies (electronic commerce software) and Information Sciences (HR software), and merged other companies such as Kadiri (manager decision support software) and Trinet (market information database) into larger entities as part of shareholder liquidation events. As CEO of Premenos, Dan grew the company from $6 million in revenue to close to $40 million at the time of its IPO, and boosted cash assets from less than $1 million to more than $60 million. As CEO of Kadiri, Dan advanced it from pre-revenue to more than $12 million before merging with a larger public company with a broader product line. Earlier in his career he worked at Leasco World Trade (largest nonmanufacturing computer services company in Western Europe at the time) as its CFO and COO. He also headed strategic planning at Reliance Group, NBC and McGraw Hill. Dan has a law degree from Yale University, undergraduate degree from Harvard College, studied advanced international studies in Europe and practiced law for several years.

 

Hector Teran, Vice President & General Manager

Hector has over 20 years experience in the software development industry, both globally and in Mexico, encompassing a deep knowledge of telecom and banking industries. Mr. Teran graduated from Monterrey Tec. He also completed a master’s degree at the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico City and taught Language Theory, Discrete Mathematics, and Compilers. Hector has extensive experience working with U.S. based software development teams and spent significant time in Dallas and Oklahoma. Early in his career, Hector was one of the founders of a software development company called Programas Ingenieria y Computadores, which he helped grow from inception to over $2 million in annual revenues. During the past eight years, Mr. Teran served as a senior software development manager for Sigma Tao Software, one of the leading software development companies in Mexico. He successfully managed a variety of projects, mainly focused on telecom network management. He also played a leading role in establishing best processes and software development practices that allowed Sigma Tao to attain the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute CMMI level 5. Mr. Teran holds a PMP certification granted by the Project Management Institute and currently resides in the City of Queretaro in Central Mexico.  Mr. Teran is currently a member of the advisory board of the Computer Science program at Monterrey Tech campus Queretaro.

 

Jesus Lopez, CTO

Jesus has significant experience, with over 14 years designing, building and maintaining large-scale object-oriented, distributed, transactional software and web applications. Jesus started his software career in Mexico, and after several years moved to Silicon Valley, yet maintained a strong network of ties to Mexico’s software industry professionals. He comes to Software Next Door from Dial Directions, where he served for three years as chief architect and head of the engineering department. His responsibilities included defining, designing and overseeing implementation of all products. Jesus spent five years as chief architect at Voxify, where he led the definition and execution of the company’s technology roadmap, including instituting best-practices within the engineering group. He has worked in various engineering capacities at Personify and Grupo Mexico. Jesus holds two patents and was the recipient of a first-place award at an InformationWeek-sponsored developer contest. He speaks four languages and has a B.S. from the Monterrey Tec.

 

Gary Ludlow, Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Gary Ludlow has more than 25 years experience delivering software products and services, particularly those that help companies integrate yesterday’s investments with today’s technologies. Mr. Ludlow’s outstanding achievements in direct sales and team management spans industries and technologies, and include selling B2B e-commerce software, integration services between legacy ERP/MRO applications and Electronic Data Interchange technologies, and digital copyright management software. Most recently, he has been the change advocate leading CRM implementations tied back to existing databases. Mr. Ludlow brings a long history of understanding business process and legacy systems with diverse configurations, as well as helping companies leverage existing investments by integrating with and capitalizing on newer technologies.

 

Shelley Harrison, Chief Marketing Officer

Shelley has worked in the Silicon Valley for over 25 years, and has considerable expertise marketing enterprise software products and services. She is the founder and CEO of San Francisco-based Launch Pad, an analytical marketing consultancy that provides strategic marketing and market research assistance to high technology companies. Shelley, who began her career with Hewlett-Packard, has been involved in numerous success stories, leading marketing teams responsible for countless PR, advertising, product, and brand identity awards, and has been the driving marketing force behind many successful IPOs and acquisitions. She served as senior VP of sales, marketing and operations at Compressent both before and after its IPO. She was the fourth employee at Visioneer, serving as the company’s VP of marketing and customer service. Prior to Visioneer, Shelley ran marketing for cc:Mail, taking it from market laggard to market leader with more than 50% market share. She has a B.S. from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Arizona.

 

Nisha Dalal, CFO

Nisha has more than 20 years of management experience in publicly held and venture capital-backed global IT and BPO industries. Her expertise includes raising capital, debt financing, merger and acquisitions. Nisha has extensive international experience in the US, UK and Asia, and in BPO and software development outsourcing. She has held board positions at iCelerate Technologies Inc., Omni Pros Ltd and Mega Renaissance Inc. Nisha co-founded iCelerate Inc., a venture-backed company that provides technology-based business solutions to Fortune 1000 firms. The company raised $12 million to fund the growth of the business. The firm grew profitably and was successfully merged with e4e, a Silicon Valley-based business services outsourcing company. Nisha served as the CFO of ICIM International Inc., a Fujitsu joint venture and now publicly traded as Zensar Technologies. During this period the company grew to $30 million and provided offshore services in a global engagement and delivery model to customers such as Cisco Systems, Sprint, British Gas, Fujitsu and Bank of America. Nisha began her career with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. She has a B.S. from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Bombay in India.
